TheLandsort Deepis a marine abyss located in theBaltic Seaand, at 456.51m deep, constitutes its deepest point.[1]
Geographical location
[edit]The Landsort Deep is located 24km southwest of the ancientlighthouseLandsorts fyron the southern tip of theSwedishisland ofÖja(in front of theSödertörnpeninsula), 80km northwest of Cape Harudden on the large Swedish island ofGotlandand 62.9km northwest of Cape Bredsandsudden on the small Swedish island ofGotska Sandönwhere theGotska Sandön National Parkis located.[2][3][4]
Until the 1960s,radioactive wasteand chemical residues were dumped on the Landsort Deep.
