Larne Loughis one of the seven district electoral areas (DEA) inMid and East Antrim,Northern Ireland.[1]The district elects five members toMid and East Antrim District Counciland contains the wards of Ballycarry and Glynn, Curran and Inver, Islandmagee, Kilwaughter and Whitehead South.[2]Larne Lough forms part of the East Antrim constituencies for theNorthern Ireland AssemblyandUK Parliament.
It was created for the1985 local elections,replacingLarne Area Band part ofLarne Area Cwhich had existed since 1973, where it originally contained five wards (Antiville, Ballycarry, Glynn, Island Magee and Kilwaughter). For the2014 local electionsit gained parts of Larne from the abolishedLarne Town DEA,and Whitehead from the abolishedKilroot DEA.
