Lauren Walker(born 12 March 1989) is an Englishfootballerwho usually plays at either left-back or left midfield. She previously representedBlackburn Rovers Ladiesin theFA Women's Premier League National Division.She hails fromBirches Head,Staffordshire.[2]

Club career

Walker played as a junior forPort Vale Girls[3]andStoke City Girls[4]and as a senior forWolves Womenin the Northern Premiership[5]before joiningArsenal Ladies' reserve side. She left Arsenal to joinBlackburn Rovers Ladiesin July 2009.[6][7]Her first goal for Rovers came in their 4–2 Women's FA Cup first round win at home toManchester City Ladies.[8]

International career

Walker was selected as a member of the Great Britain women's football squad for theWorld University GamesinBelgradein 2009.[9]She played in each of the side's previous three games, but was an unused substitute as Britain lost on penalties to Japan in the semi-final.[3]The side eventually won the Bronze Medal after beatingFrancein the third-place play-off match.[2]

Personal life

Walker was a Sports and Exercise Science student at theUniversity of Hertfordshire.[5]Following her retirement, she became a biology teacher atDerby Grammar School.[10]
