Lavara(Greek:Λάβαρα) is a town located in the eastern part ofEvrosregional unit. In 1821, Lavara participated in theGreek War of Independenceand rose up against theOttoman Empire.It was the seat of the municipality ofOrfeas(Greek:Ορφέας). It is located 2 km fromTurkeyand the western bank of the riverEvros.
