Stelle earned a B.A. inmarine biologyfrom theUniversity of California, Santa Cruz.She also earned an M.Sc. inzoologyfrom theUniversity of British Columbiaand a Ph.D. inorganismic biology,ecology,andevolutionfrom theUniversity of California, Los Angeles.[1]

Career

From 2001 to 2002, Stelle was a lecturer at theUniversity of California, Los Angeles,and from 2002 to 2008 an assistant professor atRochester Institute of Technology.She joined theUniversity of Redlandsas a professor of biology in 2008.[1]

Stelle has taught courses in introductorybiology,comparativeanimal physiology,marine ecology,marine mammalbiology, and research. She has also led travel courses focused onmarine conservationtoMexico,thePacific Northwest,Canada,andEcuador/Galápagos Islands.[1]

Research

Stelle's research projects focus on the impact of humans onmarine mammalsinSouthern California.Her studies include the distribution ofblue whales,boat disturbance ofsea lions,and behavior ofdolphins.[1]She is co-developer of an app called Whale mAPP that allows users to track sightings of marine mammals usingGIS.[2][3]
