Lipskyais amonotypicgenus offlowering plantsbelonging to the familyApiaceae.[1]It only contains one known species,Lipskya insignis.[2]It is also in tribePyramidoptereae.[3]

Its native range is Central Asia. It is found in the countries ofTadzhikistan,TurkmenistanandUzbekistan.[2]

The genus name ofLipskyais in honour ofVladimir Lipsky(1863–1937), a Ukrainian scientist, botanist as well as a member ofNational Academy of Sciencesof Ukraine (in 1922–1928, its President) and corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, and the Director of the Botanical Gardens of theOdessa University.[4]The Latinspecific epithetofinsignismeans significant.[5] Both genus and species were first described and published in Trudy Bot. Inst. Akad. Nauk S.S.S.R., Series 1, Fl. Sist. Vyssh. Rast. Vol.4 on pages 271-272 in 1937.[2]
