TheThor-Able(Thor DM-18-Able) was an Americanexpendable launch systemandsounding rocketused for a series ofre-entry vehicletests andsatellitelaunches between1958and1960.It was atwo-stagerocket,consisting of aThorIRBMas a first stage and aVanguard-derivedAblesecond stage. On some flights, anAltairsolid rocket motorwas added as a third stage. It was a member of theThor familyand an early predecessor of theDelta.[1][2]
