Loliem Railway Station(Station code:LOL) a railway station inGoa,under the jurisdiction of theKonkan Railway.[1]It's the last railway station in South-West railway zone (Konkan Railway) in the state of Goa in its southern end.

The station lies inLoliem-Polemvillage in the sub-district(taluka)ofCanaconaand is under theKarwar railway divisionof theKonkan Railwayzone, a subsidiary zone ofIndian Railways.

History

The establishment of this station was announced in September 2011, nearly a decade and a half after the railway was commissioned in 1997. A brief newspaper announcement simply said that a new railway station at Loliem between the existing stations ofAsnoti(Karnataka) andCanacona(Goa) was being set up by theKonkan Railway Corporationand would "facilitate [the] many locals who commute fromLoliem-PolemtoMargaoeveryday ". The announcement was made by theKonkan Railway Corporation'smanaging director B P Tayal.[2]

The former is a gateway toSouth Goa,Margao,the urban area ofVasco da Gama,and the beaches of South Goa, while the latter is a gateway toMapusatown, the emigration-oriented sub-district ofBardez,and the North Goa beach belt.Karmalirailway station is closest to the state capital ofPanjim(orPanaji), the administrative capital of Goa.
