Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire

This is a list of people who have served asLord LieutenantofShropshire.Before theEnglish Civil War,the lieutenancy of Shropshire was always held by theLord Lieutenant of Wales,but after theRestoration,its lieutenants were appointed separately. Since 1708, all the Lord Lieutenants have also beenCustos Rotulorum of Shropshire.

Deputy lieutenants

Adeputy lieutenant of Shropshireis commissioned by the Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire.Deputy lieutenantssupport the work of the lord-lieutenant. There can be several deputy lieutenants at any time, depending on the population of the county. Their appointment does not terminate with the changing of the lord-lieutenant, but they usually retire at age 75.
