Lou Blackburn(November 12, 1922 – 7 June 1990) was an Americanjazztrombonist.
Biography
[edit]Blackburn was born inRankin, Pennsylvania.He is best known for his work in theswinggenre but he also performed in theWest Coast jazzandsoul jazzmediums. During the 1950s, he playedswing musicwithLionel Hampton,and alsoCharlie Ventura.In the early 1960s, he began performing with musicians likeCat Anderson,among others. He also appears on the albumMingus at MontereybyCharles Mingus.He also did crossover work withThe Beach BoysandThe Turtles,among others. From 1970, he lived in Germany, where he toured successfully with his ethno jazz bandMombasa.Blackburn died inBerlinin 1990.
