Louis M. Glackens(1866–1933) was an American illustrator, animator, and cartoonist, commonly credited asL. M. Glackens.He was the brother ofAshcan Schoolpainter and illustratorWilliam Glackens.

Glackens was born inPhiladelphia, Pennsylvania.In the 1890s he began to work forPuck,a magazine known for its political and social satire, where his humorous depictions of different ethnic groups reflected themelting potof New York City at that time.[1]WhenPuckwas sold in 1914, he began to work forBarré StudioandBray Productionspioneering some early animation films.

Glackens also worked as a book illustrator, creating humorous illustrations forThe Log of the Water WagonandMonsieur and Madame.He was hired bySamuel Sorenson Adamsto create advertisements for theJoy Buzzerand other classic novelty items.
