Luca Stolz(born 29 July 1995) is a German racing driver who currently competes in theADAC GT MastersandGT World Challenge Europe.
Career
[edit]Stolz began his racing career in 2007, competing in the Cadet class of the Belgian Karting Championship. He raced in karts until 2010, before moving into single-seaters in 2011. He made his debut in the2011 ADAC Formel Masters,driving for URD Rennsport.[1]In his maiden season of formula competition, Stolz finished 12th in the championship. The following season, he moved to theGerman Formula Three Championship,initially competing in the Trophy class forHS Engineering,[2]before stepping up to the overall championship beginning atTT Circuit Assen.[3]
For 2013, Stolz began competing insports car racing,joining Land Motorsport for the2013 Porsche Carrera Cup Germanyseason. He made hisGT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cupdebut the following season, driving alongsideLucas WolfforHTP Motorsport.[4]Despite only competing in half the season, the duo would finish fourth in the Silver Cup class. For 2016, Stolz joined theLamborghiniGT3 Junior Program,[5]which led to a full-seasonGT World Challenge Europecampaign withGRT Grasser Racing Team.[6]Stolz and co-driverMichele Berettawere crowned Silver Cup champions of theSprint Cupthat season, claiming four class victories in ten races.
2017 saw Stolz joinMercedes-AMGTeam Black Falcon for theEndurance Cup;the team with which he and co-driversYelmer BuurmanandMaro Engelwould claim the2018 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cuptitle.[7]2018 also saw Stolz make his24 Hours of Le Mansdebut, driving forKeating Motorsports.[8]The team finished 29th overall, and third in theLMGTEAm class. After competing with Black Falcon in 2019 and Haupt Racing Team in 2020, Stolz andEngeljoinedToksport WRTfor the 2021 season.[9]
In 2022, Stolz began competing in theDTM,driving for Haupt Racing Team.[10]Throughout the season, he developed a reputation for staying out of the media limelight, preferring to essentially let his driving do the talking.[11]He claimed his first DTM race win at theNürburgring,taking victory in the second event of the weekend.[12]2022 also saw Stolz take victory at theBathurst 12 HourwithKenny Habul,Martin Konrad, andJules Gounon.[13]The following year, Stolz, Habul, and Gounon went back-to-back, winning the2023edition of the race as well.[14]Stolz, Engel, andMikaël Grenieradded a victory at theIntercontinental GT Challengeseason-endingGulf 12 Hours,securing a second-place championship finish for Stolz.[15]His primary program for 2023 involved a sophomore DTM drive, where he claimed four podiums and a race victory at theSachsenring.[16]
