Mohammad Mamun Miah(Bengali:মোহাম্মদ মামুন মিয়া;born 11 September 1987) is a former Bangladeshi professionalfootballerwho played as aright-back.
Early career
[edit]In 2005, Mamun was adjudgedPlayer of the tournamentwhile representingStamford University Bangladeshin the Inter-Private University Football Tournament.[2]
2018 Federation Cup final incident
[edit]On 23 November 2018,Abahani Limited DhakafacedBashundhara Kingsin the2018 Federation Cupfinal. In the 94th minute of the game, a fight erupted when Bashundhara's defenderSushanto Tripurapunched Abahani strikerNabib Newaj Jibon.This led to Abahani teammate Mamun Mia retaliating by sprinting from his own penalty area and delivering a flying "Kung Fu" -styled kick to Sushanto.[3]
TheBangladesh Football Federation,suspended Shushanto for six games and fined him Tk 100,000,[4]while Mamun was fined a total of Tk 50,000 and had received a one match ban.[5][6]Eventually, both Mamun and Shushanto had their suspensions reduced.[7]The incident received mass media attention over the next few months.[8]
In 2021, Shushanto, Jibon and Mamun become teammates at Abahani. Later, all three of them stated in an interview that they had made amends.[3]
