Maniema Province(Jimbo la Maniema,inSwahili) is one of 26provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.[3]ItscapitalisKindu.The 2020 population was estimated to be 2,856,300.[4]

Toponymy

Geography

Maniema borders the provinces ofSankuruto the west,Tshopoto the north,North KivuandSouth Kivuto the east, andLomamiandTanganyikato the south.

Administrative divisions

Maniema consists of the city ofKinduand seven territories:Punia,Pangi,Lubutu,Kibombo,Kasongo,KailoandKabambare.

Economy

Mining is the main industry in the province anddiamonds,copper,goldandcobaltare mined outside ofKindu.[6]

Kailo Territoryis home to open pitwolframiteandCassiteritemines.[7]
