Eduardo Marcelo Peña Bustamante(born 30 June 1975), known asMarcelo Peña,is a Chileanfootballmanager and former player.

Early life

After being born in Chile, Peña emigrated with his family to Australia when he was a year old. He grew up in the western suburbs of Sydney.[1]

Club career

Peña played his junior football withMarconibefore moving back to Chile at the age of 17. He made his debut forCatólicaat the age of 18. He later had stints withColo-Colo,Santiago Morning,Audax Italiano,Unión EspañolaandEverton de Viña del Mar.[1] [2]

In 2005, he had a short stint withBentleigh Greensin theVictorian Premier Leaguein Australia.[1]

International career

Peña played forChile BagainstEngland Bon 10 February 1998. Chile won by 2–1.[3]

Coaching career

Peña worked as coach for the youth team ofUniversidad de Chileand as manager ofRangers de Talcain thePrimera B de Chile.[4]Also, he has been an assistant ofClaudio BorghiforArgentinos JuniorsandBoca Juniors.[5]

Personal life

His son, Sebastián, is a footballer who was with theUniversidad de Chileyouth ranks and next moved to Australia and joinedMacarthur Rams,[6]winning the2022 NSW League Two.[7]His son, Marco, was with Universidad de Chile,Barnechea,Colo ColoandUnión Españolabefore joining Australian club Tigers FC in 2024.[8]
