Marie Sherlockis an IrishLabour Partypolitician who has been aSenatorfor theLabour Panelsince April 2020.[1][2]

Early life and education[edit]

Sherlock is fromCarrignavar,County Cork.She attended Colaiste An Chroi Naofa before graduating with aBachelor of Artsin Economics and Political Science fromTrinity College Dublin,aMaster of Artsin Economics fromUniversity College Dublin,and aMaster of Philosophyin Land Economy from theUniversity of Cambridge.[3]

Political career[edit]

She represented theCabra-Glasnevinlocal electoral area onDublin City Councilfrom 2019 to 2020 and was the party's Head of Manifesto Development.[4]

At theSeanad election in March/April 2020,she was elected toSeanad Éireannon theLabour Panel.[5]

Declan Meenagh was co-opted to Sherlock's seat on Dublin City Council following her election to the Seanad. She was also a researcher for theParty of European Socialistsin theEuropean Parliamentand was a trade union official and economic advisor toSIPTUfor over 10 years.

On the 12th of July 2024, it was reported that Marie Sherlock had been selected to run by theLabour partyin theDublin Central constituencyin thenext general election.She said that she was "thrilled" to be chosen and wanted a "fairer Dublin".[6]

Personal life[edit]

She lives inPhibsboroughwith her husband Ciarán and their three children.[7]
