TheMarine Drive Tunnelis tunnel, currently under construction, which will connect Marine Drive inKollupitiyato theColombo International Financial City(CIFC). TheCabinet of Sri Lankahas approved the signing of theMOUin January 2018.[1][2]
Route
[edit]The tunnel would begin at the northern-end of Marine Drive, before connecting to the CIFC after passing underGalle Face Green.Preliminary assessments were completed to further extend the road connection to theColombo Harbourand theNew Kelani Bridge,where the existingE03 expresswaybegins, before terminating at theBandaranaike International Airport.The extension may be built as a continuation of the tunnel or as an elevated highway. The construction of the tunnel will also further expand theGalle Face Greentowards the ocean.[2]
