Marofotyis a town and commune (Malagasy:kaominina) inMadagascar.It belongs to thedistrictofToliara II,which is a part ofAtsimo-Andrefana Region.The population of the commune was estimated to be approximately 17,000 in the 2001 communecensus.[2]
Primary and junior level secondary education are available in town. The majority 80% of the population of the commune are farmers, while an additional 15% receives their livelihood from raising livestock. The most important crops aremaizeandcotton,while other important agricultural products aresugarcaneandcassava.Services provide employment for 5% of the population.[2]
