Maryina HorkaorMaryina Gorka(Belarusian:Мар'іна Горка,romanized:Marjina Gorka;[a]Russian:Марьина Горка;Polish:Maryjna Górka) is a town inMinsk Region,Belarus.It serves as the administrative center ofPukhavichy District.[1]In 2009, its population was 22,500.[2]As of 2024, it has a population of 20,096.[1]
Maryina Horka is located 60 kilometres (37 mi) south ofMinsk.It is traversed by theM5 highway,between Minsk andBabruysk.
History
[edit]The town was first mentioned in 1222 and received its town status in 1955.
The5th Spetsnaz Brigade,first of the SovietSpetsnaz GRU,now of theArmed Forces of Belarus,has been located in Marjina Horka since 1963.
