Bengt Axel Mattias Bylund(born 16 June 1970)[1]is a Swedish musician, music arranger and music producer who lives inGothenburg.In 2016 he received aGrammy Awardfor string arrangement onTaylor Swift's1989and he is also Musical director for Swedish TV-showBingolotto.

Biography[edit]

Bylund grew up inRönningewhere he learned to play the piano by imitating his mother's piano students' homework.[2]In the 1980s moved he and his family to Ultrå inNorrlandwhere he took lessons in bassoon and piano[3]and studied atMellansels folkhögskola.[4]His first career was as a keyboardist in the bands Masterpiece, Mårtens Hjältar and Perry & the Poorboys in 1980– and the 90s.[2]1994 Bylund moved toGothenburgto study to music teacher at the Academy of Music[5]and also became keyboardist for the big band Himlaväsen.[3]In the late 90's Bylund was a music teacher atSamskolanandMusikhögskolan[3]for a few years. One of his students wasJohan Carlssonwho after his studies started working withMax Martinand started to hire Bylund for recordings.[2]

In 2001, Bylund was musical director forSven-Ingvarsshow at Rondo.[3]After that he was hired as MD at the Stadsteatern in Gothenburg,The full Monty(2003) andKharmen(2006).[3]Since 2006, Mattias Bylund has been the conductor of the annual Christmas concert "Stjarnjul" withRönninge show chorus[3]& The Entertainmen. He has been the musical director of several ofChrister Sjögren's shows since 2007.[3]In 2006, Bylund began to participate sporadically as a musician inBingolottoand since 2010 is one of the MD:s for the house band in this TV-show.[3]Other TV programs Mattias has been musical director for areSummer Evening with Rickard Olsson[6](SVT),Eldsjälsgalan och Tack för Dansen(TV4). At the 58th Annual Grammy Awards 2016, he won aGrammy Awardin the "Album of the Year" category for strings onTaylor Swift's album1989.[7]At theAcademy Awards 2017the song "Can't Stop the Feeling!"from the movieTrollwas nominated for best original song where Bylund made the horn arrangement.[8]
