Maxixcatl[1]was thetlatoani(ruler) of theNahuaaltepetl(city-state) ofOcotelolcoat the time of theSpanish conquest of the Aztec Empire.

Ocotelolco was one of the four towns that formed the state ofTlaxcallan.Mase Ecasi gave his daughter, baptized as Dona Luisa, toJuan Velazquez de Leon,both of whom were killed onLa Noche Triste.[2]: 307 Maxixcatzin was instrumental in forming the alliance between Tlaxcallan and the Spanish force ofHernán Cortésagainst theAztecs.[2]: 140–188 Maxixcatl died in the smallpox epidemic which decimated the indigenous population of central Mexico in 1520.[2]: 311 

He was succeeded by his 13-year-old sonLorenzo Maxixcatl.
