Medkila ILis afootballteam fromHarstadinNorth Norway,most notable for its women's football team, which plays in the1. divisjon,the second tier of Norwegian women's football.

Medkila first came to prominence after winning the 2003Norwegian Women's Cupwhile playing in the First Division. Medkila knocked outLeknes FK(1–10),Grand Bodø(1–5),IF Fløya(2–1),IL Sandviken(6–1) andTeam Strømmen(1–3), and beatKolbotn(2–1) in the final.[2]That same year, they were promoted toToppserienfor the first time. Medkila couldn't avoid relegation in their first season in the top-flight and were back in 1. divisjon for the 2005 season.

Five years later, they were promoted for the2011 Toppserien,but as last time, they were relegated after only one season.[3]In 2012, they finished second in the First division, earning a playoff againstKattemfor the chance to win promotion. They lost the playoff, but subsequently, Kattem withdrew their team from the league, and afterFartdeclined the offer to remain in Toppserien, Medkila were promoted after all.[4]In 2013, Medkila's women survived comfortably in 9th place in the Toppserien.[5]

Medkila also fields a men's team, which played in theThird Division(fourth tier) from1995to2010and again from 2013.
