Megaleptictis(meaning "largeLeptictis") is anextinctgenusof large insectivoremammalfrom LatePaleogene(latest Eocene (ChadronianNALMA), but may be earliest Oligocene (OrellanNALMA)) deposits ofCuster County,South Dakota.It is known from theholotypeKUVP2568 a nearly completeskullincluding themandibles.It was collected in an 1894University of Kansasexpedition from the tan siltstone of theWhite River Group.It was first named by Tj Meehan and Larry D. Martin in2011and thetype speciesisMegaleptictis altidens.[1]
