Mia Rodriguezis an Australian pop music singer-songwriter.[1]She started her career posting covers and other content onTikTok,and started releasing music in 2019.[1]

Career

Rodriguez was signed withMichael Chugg's label City Pop Records in late 2019.[2]She issued her first single, "Emotion", in December of that year, as the label's first release.[2][3]The music video had over 850,000 views onYouTube.[3]Her next single, "Psycho", was released in April 2020.[4]Its music video had over 6,000,000 views on YouTube by the end of the year.[4]She also made her live debut with a performance supporting Sydney-based duo,Lime Cordiale,in April.[5]

Her third single, "Beautiful & Bittersweet" (stylised inall-caps), was released in August 2020,[6]alongside a lyric video.[7]It was produced by Dave Hammer (Lime Cordiale).[6]Greta Brereton ofNME Australiareported that the artist had 2 million subscribers onTikTok.[6]The music video was released two months later in October 2020.[8]At the2020 ARIA Music Awards,held as a virtual ceremony, the singer was a presenter.[9][10]

Rodriguez was brought up inWestern Sydney.She is openlypansexualand suffered bullying in her childhood and teenage years as a result of her sexuality and eccentric personality.[11]
