Michael R. Shute(21 September 1951 - 3 January 2020 inHalifax, Nova Scotia) was a Canadian scholar and Professor ofReligious StudiesatMemorial University of Newfoundland.He was known for his research on the works ofBernard Lonergan[1][2][3][4][5]andmoral decision-making.[6] Shute was a co-editor ofJournal of Macrodynamic Analysis.[7]

Shute received a diagnosis ofALS.As a result, he retired from teaching in September 2019, and died on January 3, 2020.[8]
