Middlebury Gap,is amountain passin theGreen MountainsofVermont. Theheight of landof the pass is located inAddison County.
On the southeast side of theheight of land,the notch is drained by the Robbins Branch, thence into the Hancock Branch of theWhite River,which drains into theConnecticut River,and intoLong Island SoundinConnecticut. To the northwest, the notch is thesourceof the South Branch of theMiddlebury River,which drains intoOtter Creek,and intoLake Champlain. Lake Champlain drains into theRichelieu RiverinQuébec,thence into theSaint Lawrence River,and into theGulf of Saint Lawrence.
TheLong Trail,a 272-mile (438-km) hikingtrailrunning the length of Vermont, crosses Middlebury Gap between 3,234-foot (986 m) Worth Mountain, 2 mi (3 km) to the south, and 3,323-foot (1,013 m) Boyce Mountain, 2.5 mi (4 km) to the north.
TheBreadloaf Wildernesslies north of Middlebury Gap toLincoln Gap.TheMiddlebury College Snow Bowlis just south of the gap, and beyond that is theJoseph Battell Wilderness.
