Mihai Fotino(Romanian pronunciation:[miˈhajfotiˈno];14 September 1930 – 13 January 2014) was a prolificRomanianactor who has appeared in theatre, film, television, and radio, in a career spanning 70 years.

Born inBucharest,he spent his early years inBrașov,where his father,Mișu Fotino,was a stage actor and director, and later graduated fromMatei Basarab High Schoolin Bucharest.

Fotino made his debut at the age of 6, in 1936, in the playColonial.From 1952, he became an actor at theDrama Theater[ro]in Brașov. He was noticed by the directorSică Alexandrescu[ro],who brought him to Bucharest. Starting in 1956, he played for over 50 years at theNational Theatre Bucharest.[1][2]

Fotino was awarded theRomanian Order of Cultural Merit[ro]in 1967 and 2004.[3][4]

He died atElias Hospital[ro]in Bucharest, at age 83, and was buried in the city'sBellu Cemetery.[1][2]
