Mohamed Hikal(born January 10, 1979) is an Egyptianboxer.He won the bronze medal in the men's middleweight division (75 kg) at the2005 World Amateur Bo xing Championships.He competed in four Olympic Games from 2000-2012.

Career

Hikal won the gold medal in the welterweight division at the2003 All-Africa GamesinAbuja,Nigeria.

He also participated in the2004 Summer Olympics,where he was defeated in the second round of thewelterweight (69 kg) divisionbyRussia's eventual bronze medalistOleg Saitov.

Hikal subsequently moved up to middleweight, and later managed to upset defending world championGennady Golovkinand win the bronze medal in the middleweight (75 kg) division at the2005 World Amateur Bo xing Championships.[citation needed]

At the2008 Olympics,he lost his first bout to Britain'sJames DeGale.At the2012 Olympicsalso he lost in the first round, toSoltan Migitinovof Azerbaijan.[citation needed]
