Morza(pluralmorzalar;fromPersianmirza[1]) is aPrincelytitle inTatarstates, such asKhanate of Kazan,Khanate of Astrakhanand others, and inRussia.[2]
After the fall of Kazan some morzalar joined Russian service. Some morzalar lost their landownerships and became tradesmen. In theRussian Empiremorzalar gained equal rights with Russian nobility. After theOctober Revolutionthe majority of morzalar emigrated. Today the Assembly of Tatar Morzalar unites the rest of survived morzalar.
