NGC 823,also known asIC 1782,is an unbarredlenticular galaxyin theconstellationFornax.[4]It is estimated to be 194 millionlight-yearsfrom theMilky Wayand has adiameterof approximately 100,000 light years. NGC 823 was discovered on October 14, 1830, byastronomerJohn Herschel.[6][5]
SN 2022abid (ZTF22abyelas) aType Ia supernovafrom an explodingwhite dwarfwas discovered on 23 November 2022.[7]
