WādīNakhlah(Arabic:وَادِي نَخْلَة) is an area in theHejaziregion ofSaudi Arabiabetween the cities ofMeccaandTa'if,which serves as aMiqat(Boundary)for theIslamicḤaramof Mecca.[1]
History
[edit]During the era of theIslamic ProphetMuhammad,a successful military operation was carried out here, known as the "Nakhla Raid".[2][3]: 218 The Nakhla Raid was the seventhCaravan Raid,and the first successful raid against the Meccans. It took place inRajab2A.H.(January 624C.E.). The commander was'Abdullah ibn Jahsh al-Asadi,[3]: 218 [4]whom Muhammad dispatched to Nakhlah as the head of 12Emigrantswith six camels.[5]: 126, 129 [6][7][a]
