Nathan Crowley(born 28 February 1966) is an Englishproduction designerand a formerart director,who is best known for his collaborations withChristopher Nolan.He has been nominated six times for anAcademy Award for Best Production DesignforThe Prestige(2006),The Dark Knight(2008),Interstellar(2014),Dunkirk(2017),First Man(2018), andTenet(2020).

ForThe Prestige,he was nominated with set decoratorJulie Ochipinti,forThe Dark Knight,he was nominated with set decoratorPeter Lando,forInterstellarandDunkirk,he was nominated with set decoratorGary Fettis,[1]and forFirst ManandTenet,he was nominated with set decoratorKathy Lucas.Crowley was also nominated five times for theBAFTA Award for Best Production DesignforBatman Begins(2005),The Dark Knight(2008),Dunkirk(2017), andFirst Man(2018).[2]

Early life and education

Crowley grew up inIslington,North London.[3][4]His father and grandfather were both architects. Crowley attendedLeighton Park School.[5]After completing a foundation year at theSir John Cass School of Art,he went on to graduate fromBrighton Polytechnic(now the University of Brighton) with aBachelor of Arts(BA) in Three dimensional design.[6]He initially worked odd jobs in architecture.[7]
