Nick Callender(born June 16, 1994) is an American professionalfootballoffensive tacklefor theMontreal Alouettesof theCanadian Football League(CFL).
College career
[edit]After using aredshirt seasonin 2012, Callender playedcollege footballfor theColorado State Ramsfrom 2013 to 2016.[1]He played in 37 games for Rams and started in 21 of them.[2]
Professional career
[edit]Seattle Seahawks
[edit]Callender ruptured his Achilles tendon shortly after his college career and was not drafted in2017 NFL draft.[3]Following his recovery, he signed as an undrafted free agent with theSeattle Seahawkson May 7, 2018.[2]However, he was waived prior to the preseason on June 12, 2018.[2]
Indianapolis Colts
[edit]On August 2, 2018, Callender signed with theIndianapolis Colts.[2]However, he was released among the final roster cuts on September 1, 2018.[4]
Salt Lake Stallions
[edit]Callender played in six games for theSalt Lake Stallionsin 2019.[5]The league ceased operations in April 2019 and his contract was terminated.[6]
Houston Roughnecks
[edit]Callender next played for theHouston Roughnecksin 2020, but he had his contract terminated when the league suspended operations on April 10, 2020.[5][7]
Montreal Alouettes
[edit]On June 30, 2021, it was announced that Callender had been signed by theMontreal Alouettes.[8]Following training camp, he began the2021 seasonon the practice roster, but made his professional debut on October 16, 2021, against theOttawa Redblacks,as a backup.[9]He played in five regular season games in his rookie year, starting in two.[9]
In2022,Callender began the year on the injured list, but played and started in the last 16 games of the regular season.[10][11]He signed a two-year contract extension on February 23, 2023.[12]In thenext season,he played and started in all 18 regular season games atleft tackle.[13]For his strong season, he was named an East Division All-Star.[14]
Personal life
[edit]Callender was born inBerkeley, Californiato parents Meredith and Henry Callender and has a younger sister.[1]
