SuccessorNikon D5600

TheNikon D5500is anF-mountDSLRreleased by Nikon on January 5, 2015.[1][2]As the successor to theD5300(with no D5400 in between),[3]this was the first Nikon DSLR to feature atouchscreen.[3]

The Nikon D5500 features acarbon-fiber compositebody, weighs 60 grams less than its predecessor (theD5300), and has a touchscreen as well asWi-Fi.It lacks NFC (near field communication) connectivity andGPSfunctionality.[4]

The Nikon D5500 is a versatile and compact DSLR that captures 24.2-megapixel photos with a high-resolution sensor and no optical low-pass filter, making it useful for cropping or enlarging images without losing detail or sharpness. It also features a touchscreen LCD and a lightweight design. It includes a 39-point autofocus system and ability to shoot up to 5 frames per second, as well as built-in Wi-Fi capabilities.[5]

A review by Camera Decision highlights the bigger buffer forrawfiles and the longer battery life.[6]

The D5500 was superseded by theD5600in late 2016.
