Nyanga people

TheNyanga(alsoBanianga,Banyanga,Kinyanga,NiangaorNyangas) are aBantu peoplein theAfrican Great Lakesregion. Today they live predominantly in theKivuregion of theDemocratic Republic of the Congo,near the frontier withRwandaandUganda.[1]They speak theNyanga language,also called Kinyanga, which is one of theBantu languages.There are about 150,000 speakers of Nyanga according to a 1994 census, but most are also fluent inSwahili.Their national epic is thekarisiMwindo.
