Fictional character biography

In the 30th century, theApokoliptantyrantDarkseidsteals the abilities ofMordruand theTime Trapperto enthrall the entire population of the planetDaxam.He then transports the planet to a star system with a yellow sun, giving the Daxamites powers equivalent to those ofSuperman.The enslaved Daxamites wreak havoc throughoutUnited Planetsterritory, with one of them – a child named Ol-Vir – attacking the prison planet Takron-Galtos.[1]Legion of Super-HeroesmemberChameleon Boycontains Ol-Vir by tossing him into a cell withFatal FivememberValidus.The Legion engages Darkseid in battle, eventually causing him to lose control of the Daxamites and retreat.[2]

Sometime later,Nemesis Kidleads theLegion of Super-Villainsin an assault on the Legion. Ol-Vir participates in the attack, but is defeated whenElement Ladtransmutes his costume intolead- a Daxamite's primary weakness.[3]He and Validus later attack the Legion, during whichSaturn Girlrealizes that Validus is her andLightning Lad's son, who Darkseid had stolen at birth and transformed into a monster.[4]Disappointed by Ol-Vir's failure, Darkseid kills him.[5]

Post-Infinite Crisis

In the aftermath ofInfinite Crisis,most of the Legion's original continuity is restored, resurrecting Ol-Vir in the process.[6][7]

Powers and abilities

Generally, the abilities of Ol-Vir (and other Daxamites) are identical to those of Superman and other natives of the planet Krypton (super-strength; speed; flight; x-ray, heat, microscopic and telescopic vision powers; invulnerability and super hearing). However, they are vulnerable toleadrather thanKryptonite.
