"Omoide wa Okkusenman!"(Tư い ra はおっくせんまん!,translated as "110 million memories!" or "Countless memories!"[Note 1])is a song that has become anInternet memein Japan. The original song was composed byCapcomcomposer Takashi Tateishi as thebackground musicforDoctor Wily's Stage inMega Man 2titled "Wily's Castle (Dr. Wily Stage 1)", but was eventually rearranged by an individual solely known as "Blue Fang"(Thương い nha,Aoi Kiba).[1][2]Lyrics were later written for this version of the song, and then posted toYouTubeon February 6, 2007, by the user PiggKingg[3]and then posted in full on February 14.[4]The song describes the singer reminiscing about his childhood and friends, particularly pretending to beUltraman/Ultrasevenwith them, while realizing his life and theirs is nothing like what it used to be.

The first posting of "Omoide wa Okkusenman!" with vocals by an individual known asGomoccurred on YouTube on February 19, 2007.[5]The earliest postings of the song onNico Nico Dougawere on March 6, 2007, and sung by an individual (or group) known as "CHROMES",[6]followed by Gomu's minutes later.[7]While the original videos feature scenes taken from theRockman 2video game, an originalflash animationof the song was made by an individual known as "Douro of DNA"(DNA の どうRO,DNA no Dōro)[8]was uploaded on May 27, 2007, toNico Nico Douga.[9]The song has since become anInternet memeinJapanand the rest of the world. Its entrenching in the Nico Nico Douga culture has given it a permanent placementKumikyoku Nico Nico Dougamedleys, alongside the similar song "Air Man ga Taosenai".

The original writer of the song's lyrics is unknown.[10]When Nico Nico Douga attempted to discover the song's proper writer to include the song in one of their CDs,[11]their campaign was unsuccessful and determined that it was written as a collaboration of users in the Nico Nico Douga and Japanese internet communities.[12]

Commercial releases[edit]

The popularity of "Okkusenman!" in Japan led to various covers on Nico Nico Douga andYouTubeas well as commercial releases. Gomu's version was included as a track on the albumCD de Kiite Mite.: Nico Nico Douga Selection(CDで nghe いてみて. ~ニコニコ động họa せれくちょん~,CD de Kiite Mite. ~Niko Niko Dōga Serekuchon~,"Try listening on the CD." )released July 9, 2008.[13]At the 2008Animelo Summer Liveconcert,Hironobu Kageyama,Masaaki Endoh,Hiroshi Kitadani,Yoshiki Fukuyama,andAki Misatoperformed acover versionof "Okkusenman!" to begin the second day's setlist. In 2009,JAM Projectcontributed a cover version of "Okkusenman!" to the albumNico Nico Douga Selection: Sainō no Mudazukai(ニコニコ động họa せれくちょん~ mới có thể の vô đà khiển い~,Niko Niko Dōga Serekuchon ~Sainō no Mudazukai~,"A Waste of Talent" )as itsbonus track.[14]
