Panay Gulfis an extension of theSulu Sea,reaching between the islands ofPanayandNegrosin thePhilippines.The gulf contains the island-province ofGuimarasand extends into theIloilo Strait,between Panay and Guimaras, and intoGuimaras Strait,between Guimaras and Negros. Guimaras Strait connects Panay Gulf with theVisayan Sea.
ThePort of Iloilois the busiest port on the gulf, which is a major route used by ships plying the areas betweenIloilo City,Bacolod,andZamboangafurther to the south.[1]
