Patroclus of Bourges

Saint Patroclus of Bourges(c. 496–576) was aMerovingianascetic,who was a native of the province ofBerry,France.In hisHistoria Francorum,Gregory of Tourswrites that Patroclus became a deacon at Bourges in his youth.[1]He would drink nothing stronger thanwaterthat had been sweetened withhoney.He ate onlybread,water, andsalt,and devoted long periods toprayer,being credited with healing powers. He died aged eighty years old.
