Patt Morrisonis ajournalist,author, and radio-television personality based inLos AngelesandSouthern California.[1]

Morrison is a writer for theLos Angeles Times,with the weekly'Patt Morrison Asks'column,[2]and received theJoseph M. Quinnaward in 2000 from theLos Angeles Press Clubfor lifetime achievement.[3]In 2006 she began hosting the eponymous public radio program'Patt Morrison,'a 2-hour weekday interview-talk program onNPRaffiliateKPCC.Her program was dropped in August 2012.[4]Morrison has been a frequent commentator onNational Public Radiosince 1994,BBCradio and TV, andThe Huffington Postblog. She also founded thePBSdaily local news'Life & Times'public television program, and co-hosted it onKCET-TVfrom 1993 to 2001.[5][6]She won sixEmmysand 6Golden Mike awardsfor the program.[3]Currently, Morrison fills in as the host of KPCC's "AirTalk" when the show's regular host,Larry Mantle,is unable to do the show.

In 2023, the Society of Professional Journalists Greater Los Angeles chapter gave Morrison their Distinguished Journalist Award.[7]

Life[edit]

Originally fromUtica, Ohio,Morrison is a 1974cum laudegraduate ofOccidental College,[1][8]and was named its 'Alumnus of the year' in 1995.[9]In 1998 she was elected to the college's board of trustees.[3]

Her fashion trademark is wearing hats that coordinate with her clothing ensembles; she is always seen in public with one.

She identifies herself as alacto vegetarian.Pink's Hot Dogs,aHollywoodlandmark and establishment known for naming uniquehot dogand topping combinations after local cultural icons, has named thevegetarian'Patt Morrison Baja Veggie hot dog' after her.[10]
