Paugnut State Forestis aConnecticutstate forestlocated on four parcels in thetownsofTorringtonandWinchester.[4]The forest'sArts and Crafts–style administration building was constructed by theCivilian Conservation Corpsin 1937[5]and has been listed on theNational Register of Historic Places.[6]The remains of the foundation of thecondensed milkfactory established byGail Bordenon Burr Pond in 1857 may also be seen.[7][8]Trails crossing the forest include the John Muir Trail which connectsBurr Pond State ParkandSunnybrook State Park.[9]
