Pen-y-Bont-Fawr(orPenybontfawr[1]) is a small village andcommunityin theTanatvalley inMontgomeryshire,Powys,Wales.In the2011 UK Censusit had a population of 440 with 58% born in England and 39% in Wales (many nearby hospitals are in England).[2]
It is in theelectoral wardofLlanwddyn.
St Thomas's Church was built in 1855 in theVictorian Gothicstyle. It is aGrade II listed building.[3]
Robert Ellis(1812–1875), bardic nameCynddelw,was a Welsh language poet, editor and lexicographer, He was born nearby at Tyn y Meini, Bryndreiniog.
Penybontfawr railway stationwas on theTanat Valley Light Railway.The station opened in 1904 and closed in 1951.
