InGreek mythology,the namePericlymenus(/ˌpɛrɪˈklɪmɪnəs/;Ancient Greek:ΠερικλύμενοςPeriklymenos) may refer to:
- Periclymenus, aPylianprince as the son of KingNeleus[1]andChloris.[2]He was one of theArgonauts.[3]His grandfather,Poseidongave him the ability toshapeshiftinto various animals. He was killed byHeraklesatPylos,although he tried to escape in the form of an eagle.[4]He was the father ofPenthilos[5]or byPisidice,ofBorus,the father of Penthilus.[6]
- Periclymenus, a defender ofThebesin the war of theSeven against Thebes,and would-be killer ofAmphiaraus.He was the son ofPoseidonandChloris,daughter ofTiresiasof Thebes. Amphiaraus was swallowed by the earth before Periclymenus could kill him though.[7]It was either this Periclymenus or Asphodicus that killedParthenopaeus.[8]
- Periclymenus, one of theSuitorsofPenelopewho came fromZacynthusalong with other 43 wooers.[9]He, with the other suitors, was killed byOdysseuswith the aid ofEumaeus,Philoetius,andTelemachus.[10]
- Periclymenus or simplyClymenus,father ofErginuswho was usually conflated with another Erginus, one of the Argonauts.
