Phagres(Ancient Greek:Φάγρης) was aGreek[1]city located inancient Thraceand later inMacedon,in the region between the riverStrymonand the riverNestoscalledEdonisorPieris.[2][3][4]It was founded by colonists fromThasos.[5]It was perhaps together withGalepsusandApolloniaoccupied and destroyed byPhilip II of Macedonafter the capture ofAmphipolis.Despite this, archeological remains includeHellenisticfinds and indications that Phagres survived into the Roman period.[1]

Its site is located near modernOrfani(Orphanion).[6][7]
