Poundonis ahamletand acivil parishinAylesbury Valedistrict inBuckinghamshire,England. It is located near theOxfordshireborder, about four miles northeast ofBicester,three miles southwest ofSteeple Claydon.
The hamlet name isAnglo Saxonin origin, though its meaning is uncertain. Inmanorialrolls of 1255 it was recorded asPaundon.
Poundon Hill wireless station
[edit]Poundon Hillwireless station was aFCO/MI6signals intelligencestation just outside the hamlet.[2]The site is now Tower Hill Business Park. During theSecond World WarPoundon and Poundon House were sites of stations 53b and 53c of theSpecial Operations Executive(SOE).[3]
