Pydna(/ˈpɪdnə/;Greek:Πύδνα,Pýdna) is a small town and a former municipality in the northeastern part ofPieria regional unit,Greece.Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipalityPydna-Kolindros,of which it is a municipal unit.[2]The municipal unit has an area of 105.059 km2,the community 41.334 km2.[3]Pydna is situated in fertile land close to theThermaic Gulfcoast. The main village of the former municipality isKitros.It lies 6 km north ofKorinos,8 km south ofMethoniand 13 km northeast ofKaterini.Motorway 1and thePiraeus–Platy railway(nearest station at Korinos) pass east of the village.
