Quirósis a municipality in theAutonomous Communityof thePrincipality of Asturias,Spain. To the southeast is the municipality ofLena,to the south lies the Autonomous Community ofLeón,to the northeastRiosaandMorcín,to the north isSanto Adriano,to the northwest isProaza,and to the west isTeverga.Castillo de Albawas a notable fortress here in medieval times, today in ruins.

[edit]The province is within theCantabrian Mountainsand around 30 kilometres from theAsturiancapital city ofOviedo.The municipality is a small one, encompassing some 40 towns and villages. Much of the municipality is protected landscape. There are numerous species of flora, includingoak trees,chestnuttrees,holly,birchtrees and groves ofalder.Local wildlife includesbears,wolves,foxes,otters,squirrels,wild boars,eagles,vulturesandtrout.The economy is based oncattle ranching,tourismandfarming.
