Music

Rain Dogs has a soundtrack of power pop and alternative rock classics chosen by the show’s creator Cash Carraway.[6]

Some of the songs featured on the show includeNick Lowe’s “Cruel to Be Kind”,The ReplacementsLittle Mascara”,Warren Zevon’s “Werewolves of London”,Caroline Rose’s “Soul No. 5”, andJustin Townes Earle’s “Baby’s Got A Bad Idea”[7]

Episode 1 takes its name fromBruce Springsteen’s “It’s Hard To Be A Saint in the City”and Episode 7 fromThe Smiths“You Just Haven’t Earned It Yet, Baby”.[8]

The lead character Costello Jones is named afterElvis Costelloand all of the supporting male roles are named after members of the English rock bandSuede.[9]

Showrunner Cash Carraway was originally going to call the seriesAll Shook Downafter an album byThe Replacementsbut later changed it toRain DogsafterTom Waits’ booze-soakedrecordabout “people who sleep in doorways”[10]
