Richard MiddletonFBA isEmeritus Professorof Music atNewcastle UniversityinNewcastle upon Tyne.He is also the founder and co-ordinating editor of the journalPopular Music.
Education
[edit]Middleton studied atClare College,Cambridgeand at theUniversity of York,where hisPhDwas supervised byWilfrid Mellers.
Career
[edit]Middleton previously taught at theUniversity of Birminghamand theOpen University.He was appointed to his present position in 1998.
In 2004 Professor Middleton was elected to a Fellowship by theBritish Academy.[1]
Middleton retired from his post at Newcastle in 2005.
