Robert D. Lamberton

Robert Drummond Lambertonis aclassicsscholar,poet,and translator of ancient and contemporary literature, most notablyMaurice Blanchot'sThomas the Obscure.He is currently professor emeritus in the Classics Department atWashington University in St. Louis.[1]Lamberton was born inProvidence, Rhode Islandand graduated in 1964 fromHarvard Collegemagna cum laudewith a degree in Romance languages and literature. He has a master's (1970) and a doctoral degree in comparative literature fromYale University(1979), and has taught atColumbia,Princeton,andCornelluniversities. He has written eight books.
